Mercenaries 2World in Flames
28.02.2008
War is a lucrative business. Of course not for everyone. But surely it is for the main characters in Mercenaries 2. For them earning money is a high priority, so terms such as consideration, scruples or moral are completely strange to them. But it does not work otherwise. If one tries to be good and bad at the same time, it is better not to be troubled with pangs of conscience.
It is a hot day. There is no time left to spend for taking a bath. There is dirty work ahead. Matthias Nilsson, one of the three 'Mercenaries', does not have time for a cosy day in the sun. First, there is a certain contract to be fulfilled. For that few soldiers will have to die virtually. Matthias places himself on the road as a huge truck stops. Rather unfortunate for him. The mercenary experienced in combat opens the driver's door abruptly and turned the steering wheel to move this giant from the heated road. But, wait a minute, how comes such huge trucks are driving on the road? It doesn’t matter. Such giant is only one of approximately 130 transportations available in Mercenaries 2. Even helicopters can be chosen from the list!
There are altogether five different groups as employers, so it may take a while, before you run out of motivation. There are 18 story-referred missions that constitute the main part of the game. However, there are innumerable secondary missions to choose from. Jamaican Pirates, Venezuelan rebels or allied troops can secure your job. You can do business with all. You should however pay attention not to put your nose out of joint by giving them hostile orders. Once you belong to the family so to speak, air and artillery impacts or missile attacks are available to you.
Mercenaries 2 build on easiness to play and unconditional destruction. You can dispose of your work of destruction as you wish. You can either storm a building or eliminate all your enemies. You may want to simply place few explosive around the building and look at the destructive result from the distance, with a remote fuse in your hand and a cigar in the mouth. Everything can be levelled to the ground. You can throw shell into the forest and see the trees and bushes to be set ablaze. Regardless of some technical bugs, everything looks really good.
GTA is a war zone. There is no better way to describe it. A large area in sunny Venezuela that reaches the size of eight times eight kilometres is at your playground. You take in airfields, recruit other mercenaries and go on larcenous raids in order to get fuel or ammunition. And the best is still to come! With a friend you can contest on-line orders or take a tour with a boat. Even if you are on duty in the single match mode, you can switch whenever you want to help your buddy and give him a hand.
