Even if history buffs still dispute whether gladiators greeted the emperor in this way, the entrance of the gladiators into the Circus Maximus is still enough to give you goose pimples. You won’t get this feeling from Gladiators 2, but for a browser-based game, it still manages to achieve quite a lot. This starts with the presentation. For those of us who are used to clicking pieces of text or sad Flash sceneries, Gladiators is outstanding. You click your gladiator into various arenas through a stunningly detailed 2D world. You collect gold, silver, PowerUps and sometimes even a Euro or two. You select from one of three character classes, which each have their own special abilities, and which you then equip separately with weapons and other fighting equipment. Once your gladiator is ready, off he heads into the right arena, where up to €10,000 awaits you. So which of you wants to be the next Russell Crowe?
